GrammaVedora started out as a basic craft blog and has expanded into a soapmaking site, recipe site, knitting site, and all around crafting site. I enjoy making things for people and I love to learn. I learned to sew and crochet as a kid and then as an adult, taught myself to knit and make soaps. As I go through my journeys of learning new techniques, trying new recipes, and starting my small soap company, I write alot down here. It helps me to think, plan, and share what I have learned with others.
You may be wondering where the name GrammaVedora came from. Well, it’s basically a family name. My paternal grandmother’s middle name was Vedora and I always liked it. It was different and unique and I liked that. Unfortunately, my grandmother died before I was born so I never had the chance to meet her, but I always wondered what she would be like and what she would think of me. Anyway, as I grew older I decided I would name my first daughter after my grandmother. Needless to say, I didn’t think I wanted to curse my daughter with the first name of Vedora (I my like the name, but I figured my daughter may not) so I made it her middle name. As I delved deeper into crafting and creating I decided I would set up an etsy shop to sell my creations (mainly so I could make my hobby pay for itself). I named the shop GrammaVedora because many of the items I initially created were things I feel a Gramma would make for her grandchildren, plus, it’s a family name! As I moved onto learning soapmaking, I felt the only name I could use for my company so GrammaVedora Soap Company was born! It has been a tough and arduous process to get where I am today and I still have a long way to go but I feel I am on the right track.
The Lord has taken me and my family many places and lead us down paths I didn’t think we would ever go and starting a soap company was never in my mind even just a few short years ago, but through much prayer and the support of my loving husband, I am giving it a go. I will continue to look to God for guidance and use this blog as a medium to organize my thoughts and plan for the future!
Hope you enjoy the blog!
